The "New" Sou Sou
By now you have heard of the "new" sou sou. It's quite different from a traditional sou sou-but often compared when spoken about. I was introduced to this new way of generating wealth about 2 months ago. It was AMAZING opportunity to say the least. I listened to presentation after presentation and I believed in the cooperative economics agenda being presented. I shared with my closest family and friends in an attempt to help them see this grand opportunity and join with me.
This is how it works. You join and you have TWO others -those you trust and ALSO see the vision. The presentations were almost daily for you to invite others to watch and see for themselves the exact process. Some picked it up very fast, some it may have taken a few times over.
I listened every day with the intent to hear other testimonies and hear others' questions. I understood the first go around.
I joined at the very next opportunity. My mom and I joined the same week. We envisioned what a blessing it would be on our financial situations and how it could fund our trip entirely. We were excited and motivated to share with all we knew.
Here's what they don't tell you:
1. It's not easy. It's not as easy as it sounds in the presentation. Questions presented with concerns of not being able to find two people were met with disdain. Labeled as "negativity" and not as reality. It is a reality.. finding two people is HARD.
2. A better strategy. Finding two people who will also find two people, who will ALSO find two people, and so on and so forth. You are responsible for everyone finding two people. Get the first 7 people in line to start, then work together to get the remaining 8 and continue to work together until everyone has harvested.
3. Your flower is never complete. In a sense that it's self sustained? No. It's not a lonely flower but connected to so many other flowers for sustainability.
4. There are other groups. UCE/FFS is not the only group doing these. There are flowers you can join that require only $100.
5. You may be on a flower not directly connected to a video you saw.
6. You will lose your $500 if you don't bring in your two people in a timely manner.
7. You can start your own initiative. It's a lot of work, but it can be done.
While I have lost friends and money over this "new" sou sou, I still believe in the concept. It can work. It really just needs better management. Moral responsibility on the leaders and better training.
In the meantime, my family and I have started a traditional sou sou. It's much more safer than the "new" sou sou. You get out what you put in.
I only write about this here because, we were really looking at the initiative to grow financially and to fund our trip to Ghana. We had other obligations to tackle as well. I plan to also do a YouTube video about this as well. Do your own research before joining one. Go in with a strategy so you are less stressed.
